GETTING HERE
The British Council is located in the historical city centre of Bratislava. It is an old listed building and therefore we are unfortunately unable to install a lift
Most SNP bus stop is 450m away.
Nam. L.Stura tram stop is 450m away.
The old town has some cobbled streets, but there are pavements with smooth surfaces. The main entrance is located behind the wooden gate under the arched entrance. There are 27 steps to the reception on the first floor.
DROP OFF
The nearest taxi or car drop-off point is the American Embassy or Hotel Carlton.
Hotel Carlton is 260m from the British Council main entrance.
The American Embassy is 180m from the British Council main entrance.
PARKING
The British Council does not have a car park.
The nearest public car park, Garaz Hotel Carlton, is 300m away. It is pay-and-display. Alternatively Garaz Opera is 400m away.
There are publicly accessible parking spaces on Gorkeho street, which are free of charge. To use these you need to display a permit.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE
MAIN ENTRANCE
The main entrance to the British Counil on Panska 17 is not accessible to people using wheelchairs or pushchairs.

There is a set of 27 steps leading up to the main entrance.
The first set of steps has a handrail on the right hand side and the next set has a handrail on the left side.
The width of the main entrance door is max 140cm.
Unfortunately there is no lift because it is listed building and it is not possible to install one.
The width of the accessible door on the first floor is max 140cm.
Guide dogs are welcome.
RECEPTION

If you use a wheelchair, we will speak with you about a suitable emergency evacuation plan.
BUILDING OVERVIEW
The building is not accessible by wheelchair. There is no ramp or elevator. The reception in on the first floor. Other sections of the building have steps up and down, for which there are no ramps.
CLASSROOMS
There are classrooms on the second and third floors. There are no accessible classrooms.
These classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards connected to computers with screen magnifiers.
MEETING ROOMS
There are no accessible meeting rooms.
STAIRS
You can reach the floors by stairs only.
The first set of steps has a handrail on the right side and the next set has a handrail on the left side.
Unfortunately there is no lift in British Council. Please contact us before your visit if this will pose a problem so that we can make alternative arrangements.
ACCESSIBLE TOILET
There is no accessible toilet in this building or nearby.
